April 22, 2023, is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten Season. Hopefully, we have used this unordinary time of Septuagesima to prepare for the forthcoming penitential season.
We are reminded that the current law of the Church is to fast and also abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Of course, every Friday of Lent is also a day of abstinence. But we know that this bare minimum in no way keeps us from going above and beyond lawful expectations. To those who have been given much, much more is required.
